Business process as a service (BPaaS)

Business process as a service, or BPaaS, means handing a whole task to a provider who runs it through their own software. You pay a monthly fee, and the task gets done. Many small businesses already do this without the label. A payroll service, a bookkeeper using Xero, or an outsourced customer support desk are all versions of it. The benefit is that someone else handles the setup, updates, and staffing. The risk is that the provider's way becomes your way, even when it doesn't suit you. Before signing up, check you can get your data out and change providers without starting over.
