Generative AI

Generative AI is AI that creates something new, like an email, a product description, an image, or a voice recording, from a short instruction. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and ElevenLabs are well-known examples. It gets oversold, so it helps to be plain about where it fits. It's good at first drafts of things that follow a pattern, in your tone, once it has seen good examples. Marlow & Thread, a two-person slow fashion label in Melbourne, uses it to draft product descriptions, care notes, and size guides from the maker's spec sheet, and a drop now goes live in 2 days instead of 6. It can't try on a dress, so the fit notes still come from the founder.
