Mainframe modernisation

Mainframe modernisation means moving the work off a very old central computer and onto newer systems that are easier to change and connect. It's mostly a big-company idea, because banks and large firms still run decades-old machines. Small teams don't have mainframes, but many have the same problem in a smaller size. It might be a booking system on one office PC, or a spreadsheet only the founder understands. The small-team version is moving that work into tools that talk to each other, such as Xero, Shopify, or Google Sheets. Move one job at a time, and keep the old way running until the new one is proven. Some old records won't move cleanly, so someone has to check them by hand.
